Uttlesford District Council News from Cllr David Morson

 Local Development Framework Consultation

The provisional programme is that the consultation will run from Monday, 15 February, to Friday, 9 April 2010. The Consultation leaflet has been finalised and will be sent by Royal Mail to every household in the District Two additional Community Forum Meetings in the South and the North of the District are being arranged on 4 and 6 March. There will only be one item on the Agenda of these Meetings the Consultation Process and residents are urged to attend. It is anticipated that the County Highways and Transportation team will have finalised the explanatory text to the comparative transport assessment to inform the consultation.

Please note that the reason for this second consultation is that the relevant expert studies needed to inform the location of housing in the District have been completed. The Consultation Leaflet will provide details of how these studies can be accessed on the Uttlesford Website. Parish Councils will also be given hard copies for residents to reference. There will also be copies in Libraries and will also be available from the Council Offices in Saffron Walden. It is essential that residents refer to the evidence in these studies in their consultation responses .None of the studies highlight Elsenham as a desirable or appropriate location for a single settlement and this should be the criteria for refusal. Should the Administration continue to press ahead with Elsenham despite the findings of the studies, a challenge can be mounted on evidence

The Joint Parishes will be providing some guidelines and assistance on responding.
